Take the Stress Out of Moving Day | Red Rock Mortgage - Knoxville
Our team at Red Rock Mortgage Knoxville understands how fun the idea of a new home can be, especially when you finally get the keys in your hand. However, when the day comes to pack up the “old” in order to move into the new, it can be stressful. Fortunately, there are things you can do to help prepare for a moving day that doesn’t include so much stress.
Packing Tips for Moving
First, don’t take along what you don’t need. Packing up a home is the perfect time to declutter. If you haven’t seen it or used it in months (or even years), it’s time to say goodbye. Either toss it, donate it or sell it! Need some decluttering advice? Check out the 12 Golden Rules of Decluttering.
Second, pack boxes in accordance to the room they belong in. You don’t want to pack items that are going to the kitchen, living room and a bedroom all in one box. This can make things very complicated and stressful when it’s time to unpack and find certain items. Therefore, keep items from a given room together—and clearly label the boxes. You can even get more specific when packing items you will need quickly, like pajamas or the coffee pot. Identify those VIP items on the outside of the box!
Finally, if you have younger children or pets, it’s best to have them stay with loved ones during the transition. It’s essentially impossible—or at least extraordinarily difficult—to pack and unpack and take care of your children and pets at the same time. Therefore, find them a place to go for a day or two in order to give you the ability to solely focus on the move while knowing they are safe.
