Host a Successful Yard Sale

One of the great things about moving from one place to the next is the ability to finally get rid of some items in your current home that are taking up space and are not being utilized any more. Not only will this allow less clutter to move with you, but it will also help open up additional space within your house now that will allow your home to be seen better by potential buyers. Therefore if you are planning a move, plan a yard sale first!

One Person’s Trash Is Another Person’s Treasure

Not that the items you are selling at your yard sale are trash per say, but they are no longer needed by you or any member of your family. As a result, they need to be given to someone who still see the treasure left in them.

In order to plan a successful yard sale, make sure you make it known to your community members. Consider placing an ad in a local newspaper, let your friends and family know through social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), and do not forget going “old-school” with garage sale signs leading to your location!

Be sure to ask for another pair of hands for help! Most people who come look at your items will be making a quick sweep. Do not miss out on a sale because you are busy on the other side of the yard with another buyer. Ask friends for help, or even your children if they are old enough.

Create a happy space! Don’t just throw all your items on a table and wait for them to be sold. Place your items in a way that makes it easier for them to be seen by visitors, and maybe even have some appropriate background music playing. This way people are not as eager to leave, and they will stick around longer to see if there is anything that strikes their interest instead of making a quick pass through.
